Thomas Jacob is excited to welcome his best friend into the world- Athan James. Athan is short for Athanasios which is Thomas in Greek. Athan's grandfather is named is Thomas, just like Thomas Jacob's grandfather is named Thomas.
Athan, being the good Greek that he is, decided to make his apperance early(at 36 weeks gestation)on March 25th, which is Greek Independence Day! It is also one of the holiest days for Greek Orthodox Christians as it is the Annunciation of the Theotokos. This is the day that the Greek's believe the Archangel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bear a child. Last summer, Alexis' brother and cousin(who are Athan's Godfathers) prayed at the Church of the Theotokos in Greece for Alexis to get pregnant. Amazing! Thank you Lord for Athan and congrats to Alexis and James!
